New features
The following has been added in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy:
- Support for Adobe 2025. Studio for InDesign, InCopy, and InDesign Server version 20 can be used with the following Adobe applications:
- InDesign 2025 version 20.2.0 or higher
- InCopy 2025 version 20.2.0 or higher
- InDesign Server 2025 version 20.0.0 or higher
Changes
The following changes have been made in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy:
- The default location in which temporary files are stored has changed. In previous versions of Studio for InDesign and InCopy, layouts, articles, images, and certificates were locally stored in the user's Documents (macOS) or My Documents (Windows) folder:
- macOS: Users/<username>/Documents/WoodWingStudio.noindex
- Windows: C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\WoodWingStudio.noindex
In practice, this location is not ideal. For example, when automatically synchronizing the Documents folder with a cloud service such as iCloud, OneDrive, or Google Drive, it can cause unnecessary network traffic and potentially functional issues.
The default location has therefore been changed to the following:
- macOS: Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/WoodWingStudio.noindex
- Windows: C:\Users\<username>\appdata\localWoodWingStudio.noindex
Note: This location can be customized by using the UseCustomBaseFolder setting.
- Support for UXP has been added to the scripting event logic. UXP is a JavaScript ES6 (ECMA2015) based extensibility platform, and has been supported in InDesign and InDesign Server since version 18 (2022).
Studio for InDesign version 20 for Adobe 2025 and Studio for InDesign Server version 20 for Adobe 2025 now also support scripting events written in UXP scripts. Event script files with the .idjs extension are executed as UXP scripts.
Next to UXP, Extendscript remains fully supported for InDesign, InCopy, and InDesign Server.
