Changes
The following changes have been made in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy:
- The Send To Next context menu action now triggers a SendToNext request to Studio Server instead of SendTo. In previous versions of Studio for InDesign and InCopy, the ‘Send To Next' action triggered a 'SendTo' request with Status and RouteTo both set to 'nil'. With 18.0.5, this has been changed to the SendToNext call.
Additionally, when multiple items of multiple types are selected, now multiple SendToNext calls are sent to Studio Server, one for each object type. Before 18.0.5, one 'SendTo’ call was made for all objects of all object types combined.
The reason for this change is that the SendTo request with Status and RouteTo both set to ‘nil’ is deprecated since Enterprise Server 9.2.
Known issues
No known issues exist in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy.

Changes
The following changes have been made in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy:
- Assets Server integration: When restoring an archived layout from Assets Server, the File > Package command in InDesign is now enabled. In previous versions of Studio for InDesign and InCopy in combination with Assets for InDesign, the File > Package command in InDesign was disabled when restoring an archived layout. This prevented users from packaging such a layout. This command is now enabled in this scenario.
Note: This requires Studio for InDesign and InCopy 18.0.4 as well as Assets for InDesign 4.7.2 (scheduled to be released as part of Assets Server 6.105 in early January 2024).
Known issues
No known issues exist in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy.

EN-95964 Studio plug-ins are leaving a footprint in InDesign files when a local image is placed both as an inline and as a regular image.
EN-95967 Creating an image via scripting in InDesign Server gives an exception since version 18.0.2 Studio for InDesign and InCopy.
EN-95970 Dragging web elements of type 'custom-type' on a layout from Chromium-based web browsers on Windows no longer works in InDesign 2023.
EN-95977 The ‘Package Book For Print’ command does not work for a book that is saved locally.
EN-95978 Studio Scripting documentation is missing info about the app.woodwingLogging preference.
EN-95981 The context menu command ‘Place’ in the Elements panel is enabled and behaves badly when multiple unplaced items are selected.
EN-95982 Dragging elements on a layout from Chromium-based web browsers does not work (macOS).
EN-95983 The context menu command ‘Delete Unplaced Component’ is not available in the Elements Panel when multiple unplaced components are selected.
EN-95997 Updating the layout geometry in InCopy triggers a Save operation of a checked out article, even if the article was not changed.
EN-95998 Placing a Studio image from a library on an unsaved layout results in a link in the Links panel with only the extension displayed.
EN-95999 After changing the paragraph style in the Print editor of Studio, the styling is not updated in the layout preview when object styles were applied to multiple article frames.
1 This fix also requires Assets for InDesign version 4.7.2 (scheduled to be released as part of Assets Server 6.105 in early January 2024).
2 This fix will also become available in the next 17.0.9 patch version of the Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2022 plug-ins.

Changes
The following changes have been made in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy:
- Unnecessary processing in InDesign Server is prevented when opening a layout with object operations for multiple article elements and object styles applied. This change improves the performance when placing a multi-component article in Studio on a layout that contains frames with an object style which has a paragraph style assigned to it.
It used to be that for each article component, the article was checked-out and checked-in in InDesign Server when updating the layout. With the change, the article is updated only once: when all components have been placed. This improvement therefore reduces the number of check-out and check-in actions on the article.
For reference, the placing of articles in Studio with object styles that have a paragraph style assigned is described in Styling text using InDesign object styles when placing articles with Studio for InDesign.
- Previews and thumbnail renditions are no longer created when choosing the 'Create Image' command. In previous versions, when a user chose the 'Create Image' command to add a local image to Studio Server, Studio for InDesign and InCopy provided the preview and thumbnail rendition in the CreateObjects request.
However, because Studio Server and Assets Server are responsible for creating previews and thumbnails of images, having this action also performed by the plug-ins is not required and not efficient.
This functionality has therefore been removed, thereby making the upload of images to Studio Server more consistent.
- Scripting: The afterGeometryNotification scripting event has been extended with a 'geometry status' flag to reduce the number of pop-up alerts in InCopy. Currently, the afterGeometryNotification scripting event only provides the object ID of the layout that was updated.
This is limited, because each update of the layout will result in some action, presumably a warning alert about the updated geometry.
Instead, the Update Geometry button of the InCopy toolbar changes color: yellow for low priority changes and red for high priority changes.
Now, the geometry update status is also passed to the scripting event. When the ‘geometry status’ is available in the event script, then the custom script that catches the event can decide whether or not to display the alert about the geometry update.
The afterGeometryNotification in the Scripting Guide has been updated with information about the technical details.

EN-95912 The WoodWingStudio.noindex/InDesign/InCopy folder is not created when the custom download folder location is configured in WWSettings.xml.
EN-95916 With the setting SCEnt:CheckOutOnPlace enabled, a graphic article component is placed as checked in when it is placed on a second layout using copy / paste.

EN-95941 The Links panel in InDesign shows 0 Bytes as image size after an image is placed in Studio and the layout is processed by InDesign Server.
EN-95949 The beforeSaveLayout scripting event should report ‘SaveVersion’ instead of 'CheckOut' when saving a version of a layout.
EN-95954 Avoid unnecessary processing in InDesign Server after opening a layout with object operations for multiple article elements and object styles applied.
EN-96010 Extend the afterGeometryNotification scripting event with a 'geometry status' flag to reduce the number of pop-up alerts in InCopy about geometry updates.

Fixed issues
The following issues have been fixed in this release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy:
EN-95931 The connection to an SSL enabled server cannot be established if the setting UseCustomBaseFolder is used to set an alternative download folder.
The root cause of this problem is that the local WoodWingStudio.noindex/InDesign folder is not created automatically when trying to log on. As a consequence, the default cacert.pem certificate file cannot be created on the local system and therefore the connection over HTTPS fails.
This is a side effect of the improvement ticket EN-95517 'Do not create empty folders for images and articles that are not required to be downloaded after opening a layout in InDesign or InDesign Server' which was implemented in version 18.0.2 of Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2023.
