When a placed article is opened in InCopy, only the latest saved version of the layout and that of the article is loaded. Any other placed content that was updated after the layout was saved is not retrieved in order to minimize the loading time. However, users might find it confusing to not immediately see the content that they perhaps know exists.
Example: Article A and B are placed on a layout and a version of the layout is saved.

Although users can manually update all content of the layout manually by choosing WoodWing Studio > Update All Content, they might not be aware of this option and if they do, it involves performing extra steps. As an alternative method, the latest stored version of all placed content can be loaded automatically.
Configure this by using one of the following methods:
Method #1: Configure Studio Server. This will affect all InCopy instances that are logged in to that server.
Info: Performing the described step requires direct server access. Depending upon how your system is hosted and the level of access you have to that system, coordination may be required with your Partner or WoodWing Support team. For a full overview of the steps that need to be done by WoodWing and how to request them, see WoodWing Cloud - Change management.
In Studio Server:
- File: configserver.php file (recommended: config_overrule.php file)
- Name of option: UpdateAllContentAfterOpenArticle
- Location: SERVERFEATURES list
- Example:
new Feature( 'UpdateAllContentAfterOpenArticle'),
Method #2: Configure individual InCopy installations.
For each InCopy installation:
- File: WWSettings.xml file
- Name of option: UpdateAllContentAfterOpenArticle
- Location: anywhere between the
<Settings> </Settings>
tags - Example:
<SCEnt:UpdateAllContentAfterOpenArticle/>
Important: Make sure to validate the WWSettings.xml file for correct content. See Validating the WWSettings.xml file.
The behavior of the above described example is now as follows:
Example: Article A and B are placed on a layout and a version of the layout is saved.
