A commonly performed task in WoodWing Assets is to move or copy files, Collections, or folders to another location. This article explains how this is done.
Step 1. Use one of the selection methods to select the files or Collections that need to be moved or copied. Use the Folder browser to select a folder.
Note: A maximum of 1000 files can be selected at a time. No more than one folder can be selected at a time.
Step 2. Do one of the following;
For files and Collections:
- Right-click any of the selected files and choose Move or Copy from the context menu.
- In the toolbar, click the Action menu (the three dots), and choose Move or Copy.
For folders:
- Right-click the selected folder and choose Move or Copy from the context menu.
- Hover the mouse pointer over the folder name, click the Action menu icon (the downward pointing arrow), and choose Move or Copy.
A window appears showing the locations where the files can be moved or copied to.
Step 3. Select the location where the files should be moved or copied to.
Important: Once the copy or move process has been started, it cannot be stopped from within Assets. Before clicking Move or Copy therefore, take note of how many files will be moved or copied. This is especially important when moving or copying folders: these can potentially contain thousands of files. The process can only be stopped (by the system administrator) when folders are moved or copied. When you want the process to be stopped (for example because you are moving folders by mistake), inform your system administrator immediately. The system administrator can cancel the process using the management tools in Assets Server 6.112 or higher. A notification is shown as soon as the process is canceled. Any files that have been moved or copied before the process was canceled will have to be restored manually. |
Step 4. Click Move or Copy.
