Configuring keyboard shortcuts for the Print editor of Studio – Help Center

To make editing Print articles in Studio more efficient, various keyboard shortcuts can be used for performing specific tasks. Some of these keyboard shortcuts can be configured. This article describes how this is done.

Keyboard shortcuts for the following features of the Print editor can be configured:

Glyphs
White spaces

Glyphs and white spaces

The keyboard shortcuts for glyphs and white spaces are configured in the same way. Default shortcuts are provided (see those for Windows and for macOS) and are the same as those used in InDesign and InCopy, with the exception of the keyboard shortcut for en-space for which the combination was already used by Web browsers.

When needed, these keyboard shortcuts can be modified by configuring the following files:

For glyphs: Content Station folder > config-glyphs.js
For white spaces: Content Station folder > config-white-spaces.js

Note: When modifying keys, check that the combination is not a combination that is used by the Web browser which cannot be overruled.

Keyboard shortcuts have the following format:

shortcut: 'modifier key(+optional modifier keys or special keys)+key',

Example: Here, a keyboard shortcut for an en space is configured using two modifier keys:

The following keys can be used as a modifier key:

shift
ctrl
command or meta
alt or option
mod (for mapping Cmd on macOS and Ctrl on Windows)

Additional modifier keys that can be used are:

backspace
capslock
del
down
end
enter
esc
escape
home
ins
left
pagedown
pageup
plus
right
return
space
tab
up

Any other keys can be referenced by name such as a, /, $, *, =, and so on.
