Compatibility of Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2021

This article describes the compatibility of Studio for InDesign and InCopy version 16 for Adobe 2021 with other systems.

Adobe

Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2021 is compatible with the following Adobe applications:

• InCopy 2021
• InDesign 2021
• InDesign 2021 Server

Adobe 2021 versions

Different versions of Adobe 2021 exist and require different versions of Studio for InDesign and InCopy as shown in the following table:

Adobe version	Studio for InDesign and InCopy version
2021.4 Version 16.4.x	Requires Studio for InDesign and InCopy version 16.3.x.
2021.3 Version 16.3.x	Requires Studio for InDesign and InCopy version 16.3.x. Note: On any platform except Mac M1, the version 16.0.0 plug-ins likely also work with InDesign 16.3. However, these combinations are not tested by us and are therefore officially not supported. This release of Adobe adds native support for Apple M1 (Silicon).
2021.0 – 2021.2 Version 16.0 – 16.2.1	Requires Studio for InDesign and InCopy version 16.0.0. Note: Version 16.3.0 of the plug-ins cannot be used. Important: InDesign Server 16.2.1 does not work with the Studio plug-ins for InDesign Server. It is advised to not install InDesign Server 16.2.1. Instead we advise to upgrade InDesign Server to version 16.4.0 and install the Studio plug-ins for InDesign Server version 16.3.1. For more information, see this announcement.

The operating systems on which Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2021 can be used is mainly determined by the operating systems on which the Adobe applications can be installed.

Assets Server

Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2021 can be used with the following versions of Assets Server:

Notes: This requires the Assets for InDesign plug-in for connecting to Assets Server to be installed in InDesign. Even though the workflows of Studio for InDesign combined with the plug-ins for connecting to Assets Server are completely separate, compatible versions are required to have them installed simultaneously within the same instance of InDesign.

Assets Server

Requires Assets for InDesign 4.2.1 build 850 that is shipped with Assets Server 6.56, or any higher version of Assets for InDesign.

Studio

Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2021 can be used with the following versions of Studio:
