Working on a publication is team work. In a typical workflow therefore, a file will go through many changes before it can be published.
To discuss or communicate these changes, comments or notes can be added.
This can be done by doing one of the following:
- Adding a comment to any file anywhere in Studio
- Adding a comment in a Digital article
- Adding an inline note in a Print article
- Adding a note to a Dossier
Each is described in more detail below.
Adding a comment to any file anywhere in Studio
Info: This feature is only available on WoodWing Cloud and requires Studio 11.163 or higher.
In this method, any file anywhere in Studio can be selected within the article and a comment can be added via the Comments panel.
For more information see Adding a comment to any file anywhere in Studio.
Adding a comment in a Digital article
When working on a Digital article, a comment can be added to selected text within the article via the Comments panel.

For more information see Using comments in a Digital article in Studio.
Adding an inline note in a Print article
When working on a Digital article, an inline note can be added as a reminder, comment or reference, or as a question, instruction or feedback about the text in the article.
Figure: Inline Notes appear as an icon in the text. When clicking the icon, the content appears in a pop-up window.
For more information, see Working with Inline Notes in the Print editor of Studio.
Adding a note to a Dossier
When a Dossier is created, it may not always be clear to other users what the Dossier should be used for or what content it should contain.
Dossier Notes in the form of a chat box can be used to indicate or discuss this aspect with other users.
Working with Dossier Notes is done through the Notes button in the menu bar of a Dossier.
For more information, see Working with Dossier Notes in Studio.
