The Photo Editor in Assets is used for performing light photo editing tasks for images that are aimed at publishing in social and digital channels. Think of tasks such as image cropping, overlaying text, or adding stickers. For advanced photo editing tasks, using a tool such as Photoshop is recommended.
This article describes how to use the Photo Editor.
Tip: To quickly rotate or flip an image without opening it in an editor, the options in the Image context menu can also be used. See Editing images in Assets.
Requirements
The Photo Editor is available in Assets 6.106 and higher, and only on WoodWing Cloud.
Users need to be given Edit permissions and should have View permission on the 'filesize' and 'extension' metadata fields.
Limitations and restrictions
Take note of the following limitations and restrictions when using the Photo Editor:
- Only images in JPEG and PNG format can be edited.
- The file size of the image that is opened can be no bigger than 25MB.
- The text of the Photo Editor user interface (such as button labels and tooltips) can only be shown in English or German. When Assets is used in any other language, this text is shown in English.
Note: This does not apply to messages such as confirming to discard unsaved changes; these are always shown in any of the languages supported by Assets.
