Swivle file permission types explained – Help Center

Part of setting up your Swivle environment is defining what users are permitted to do with the files that they have access to.

This is done as part of setting up Rules by selecting the permissions that users are allowed to make use of, and clearing the permissions that they should not be able to use. Each permission is represented by an icon.

This article describes each permission and what it is for.

Icon	Name	Description
	View	Allows the user to view files as thumbnails in the locations for searching, browsing, filtering files and viewing metadata, as well as the Placed files panel and the History panel.
	Preview	Allows the user to view files in 'preview' size in the locations for searching, browsing, filtering files and viewing metadata, as well as the Placed files panel and the History panel.
	Use original	Allows the user to perform the following tasks: View Preview Download Copy
	Edit metadata	Allows the user to perform the following tasks: View Preview Download Copy Edit metadata
	Edit	Allows the user to perform the following tasks: View Preview Download Copy Edit metadata Open files for editing (through a process of checking-out & checking-in). Restore a previous version of a file. Edit Collections (such as adding or removing files). Rotate images.
	Rename	Allows user to rename files, folders, or Collections. Note: Renaming folders also requires the 'Move' permission because it changes the location of all the files within the folder.
	Move	Allows user to move files, folders, or Collections. Note: The user needs to have permission on the source folder and the destination folder.
	Create	Allows the user to perform the following tasks: Create content (such as folders or Collections) Import content
	Delete	Allows the user to delete content, versions of files, or Collections.
