When searching for a document and selecting it in the list of search results, the document is shown in the preview window (also known as the 'document viewer').
The default way in which the document is shown depends on the type of document:
Document type | Preview |

Images in JPG, PNG and TIF format. |
A full preview of the whole document is shown. For documents in TIF format that contain multiple pages (such as those that have been scanned), pages are also shown. |
Adobe Acrobat documents in PDF format. |
A full preview, including all pages is shown. |
A toolbar at the top contains various tools for performing actions such as zooming, navigating, downloading, printing, and so on.
Each toolbar is explained in the sections below.
Note: The actions that can be performed by using the options in the vertical toolbar on the right are explained in Working with search results in Xtendis 7.
Opening in a new Web browser tab
When you want to focus working on a particular document, it can sometimes be beneficial to open it in a new Web browser tab.
In this view, the search options and search results are not shown, giving you more space to view the document.
To open a document in a new Web browser tab, do the following:
Step 1. Use the Find option to search for a document.
Step 2. In the search results, select the document so that it is outlined in blue.
Step 3. In the vertical toolbar to the right of the screen, hover over the Document options icon.
Step 4. From the menu that appears, choose Open in new tab.
