Info: This feature requires Assets Server 6.52 or higher.
This creates an exact copy of the original file, including the metadata field values.
When a copied file is updated by changing the values of its metadata fields, it may be that these changes also need to be made in the original file and all other copies of it. Think of metadata fields containing important context or legal information such as the description, tags, copyright details, usage rights information, and so on.
The process of synchronizing metadata fields across file variations can be automated.
How it works
First, Assets Server needs to be configured so that it knows which metadata fields should be synchronized.
Then, when any of these fields are updated for a file of which variations exist, the values of these fields are automatically updated for all these file variations.
Note about variations
When a file is copied it will get the same
When the file that is copied is itself already a copy, its masterId will be used.
Variations of a file are:
Step 1. In the Management Console, access the Server Configuration > Cluster properties page and search for syncMetadataFields.
Step 2. In the Current value list, enter the metadata fields that should be synchronized.
Step 3. Click Save.
Synchronizing the metadata fields is automatically done when the field is updated for any of the variants.
Note: This also means that any differences that currently exist will remain until a change is made.
