    What exactly is this "SmartConnectionIDP"?

I am assuming it stands for "Smart Connection InDesign Process/Plugin/Program"?

The example provided here is about InDesign. What about InCopy? Is it also the same "SmartConnectionIDP", or there is a different process called maybe "SmartConnectionICP"?

    Hi Oliver Chou,

Apologies for this late reply, your post ended up marked as spam again.

To answer your questions, SmartConnectionIDP is just an internal name for the application and is also used for InCopy. The example incorrectly refers to InDesign, I have corrected this now.

    Thank you for reporting this.

    Hi Maaten,

Thanks for the exaplanation on the SmartConnectionIDP.

I have another question. Earlier I was trying to see how I could use the Dossier Panel in InCopy, but I couldn't find it. I thought it was the version of the Smart Connection that doesn't support that. Thus, I simply continued reading along. However, as I moved forward on reading the documentation, I found this article: https://helpcenter.woodwing.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041449271-Searching-and-locating-files-using-Studio-for-InDesign-and-InCopy

    It says:

    • The Dossier panel. (InDesign only) To access this panel, choose Window > Studio > Dossier.

I wonder if this Studio for InCopy quick start also contains some errors when being copied from the Studio for InDesign quick start?

    The Dossier panel (live version).

The live version was not in Studio for InDesign quick start and I wonder if this was also erroneously included in Studio for InCopy quick start instead of for InDesign.

    Best,

    Oliver

    Hi Oliver Chou,

The Dossier panel 'live version' is indeed not available in InCopy and should not have been part of this quick start guide.

I have removed it now and have also added it to the InDesign quick start guide where it was missing.
    Thanks for pointing this out.

    Hi Maarten,

    Thank you for the clarification.

One more point I have is that whether "Dossier panel" actually exists in InCopy at all, not just the live version.

Somehow, I cannot seem to follow along on my InCopy to pull up this Dossier panel.

Maybe it's because of the version of my plugin (Latest version of the Smart Connection for InCopy CC 2018).

I just want to check to make sure that is actually the case.

    Best Regards,

    Oliver

    Hi Oliver Chou,

The Dossier panel does exist in InCopy and can be accessed by using the methods described above. If this does not work for you then please contact Support.

On a side note: if you are using Smart Connection then please use the documentation for Smart Connection, the article that you are reading here is for Studio for InDesign and InCopy, although that should not matter for the working of this particular feature.
