With Studio, a user can automatically open a file for editing in its native application. Depending on what kind of file it is, installation and configuration steps are required.
A distinction is made between the following types of files:
- InCopy articles
- InDesign layouts
- All other types of files
InCopy articles
By default, articles are opened in the Print editor of Studio but they can also be automatically opened in a pre-defined version of InCopy.
This requires the following:
- Studio running in Google Chrome
- The Desktop application
- InCopy with Studio installed
Configuring Studio Server
Info: Performing the described step requires direct server access. Depending upon how your system is hosted and the level of access you have to that system, coordination may be required with your Partner or WoodWing Support team.
For a proper communication with Studio for InCopy, one of the Studio Server instances that Studio for InCopy connects to needs to be defined. This is done in the configuration file of the Studio plug-in on Studio Server.
Step 1. Access the config.js file for Studio.

<Studio Server path>/contentstation/
Step 2. Locate the serverName option and make sure that it matches one of the server names configured in the WWSettings.xml file distributed to your workstations.
Example: Here the server name in the WWSettings.xml file is 'Studio Server': <SCEnt:ServerInfo name="Studio Server" url="http://localhost/StudioServer/index.php"/> 'Studio Server' is therefore entered as the serverName option:
