The latest release of Studio for InDesign and InCopy 2025, version 20.1.0 build 21, contains a critical issue affecting the login process when opening a layout from Studio in an environment where SSO is not enabled.
When the issue occurs, the login process is incorrectly redirected to the WoodWing Identity Service in the browser. This can result in an endless login loop and may cause InDesign to crash.
Due to the severity of this issue, version 20.1.0 build 21 has been withdrawn from the Help Center.
When does the issue occur?
The issue occurs when checking out a layout from the Studio Web client in InDesign 2025 when:
- Studio for InDesign and InCopy 20.1.0 build 21 is installed.
- Studio Server is not configured for SSO.
- InDesign is not already running.
The issue occurs on both macOS and Windows.
Workaround
If users already have this version installed, the following work around should work:
- Launch InDesign first.
- Log in to Studio Server from InDesign.
- Open the layout from the Studio Web client.
The layout should then open in InDesign as expected.
Resolution
We are working on a solution and plan to release an update around August 20.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue and appreciate your understanding.
