The Styles panel in the Print editor of Studio is used for applying a paragraph style or a character style to text in an article.

The styles that it contains originate from the article template on which the article is based when it was created.
Managing styles
To add new styles or edit or remove existing styles, do one of the following depending on the scenario:

The styles of a placed article cannot be edited in InCopy. To edit the styles of the article, open the layout on which the article is placed in InDesign, edit the styles, check out and check in the article. |
| 2 | Article is not placed, not created from a template | The styles of an unplaced article that was not created from an article template can be edited in InCopy. |
| 3 | Article template created in InCopy | The styles of an article template created in InCopy can be edited in InCopy. |
| 4 | Article template created in InDesign |
The styles of an article template created in InDesign cannot be edited in InCopy. To edit the styles of the article template, place it on a layout in InDesign, edit the styles, and create a new article template from the placed frames of the article template. |
| 5 | Article created from article template created in InCopy | The styles of an article created from an article template created in InCopy can be edited in InCopy. |
| 6 | Article created from article template created in InDesign |
The styles of an article created from an article template created in InDesign cannot be edited in InCopy. Edit the styles of the article template as described above and create a new article from the new article template. Or, place the article on a layout and edit the styles as described for a placed article above. The geometry of the article will be lost when you remove the article from the layout. |
