The recommended way to let users create a new article, Dossier, or layout in Studio or in Studio for InDesign and InCopy is to base the file on a template.
This makes sure that the new file inherits the content and styling of the template and that users do not have to spend time setting this up themselves.
When a file is instantiated from a template, it also inherits some of the properties of the template.
Which properties these are depends on the version of Studio Server that Studio or Studio for InDesign and InCopy is connected to, as shown in the following table:

The new file will be set to the first Status that is defined in the Workflow of the applicable Brand. If for the Category/Status a routing is set up, this routing will overwrite the routing of the template. |
