PHP 8.4 in Studio Server (Microsoft Windows Server Note)

We’d like to inform you that Studio Server will be upgraded to support PHP 8.4. This upcoming release officially introduces compatibility with PHP 8.4 for Studio Server 10.62.

However, for customers using Microsoft Server as their operating system, there is an important limitation to be aware of. At this time, not all required Microsoft drivers support PHP 8.4. Microsoft has not publicly announced full support for MS SQL or provided a roadmap indicating when this compatibility will be available. 

Impact

Customers running Studio Server on Microsoft Windows Server with MS SQL environments may not be able to upgrade to PHP 8.4 due to missing or unsupported Microsoft drivers. Customers using Windows Server with MySQL will not have this issue.

As a result:

• PHP 8.4 is supported by Studio Server, but not supported on Microsoft Server environments.
• Customers using Microsoft Server will need to remain on an earlier, compatible PHP (8.2) version.
• The timeline for Microsoft MS SQL driver support is currently unknown and outside of our control.

Workaround

To avoid configuration issues:

• Customers using Microsoft Windows Server with MS SQL should continue running a supported earlier version of PHP.
• For customers who prefer not to manage server compatibility or configuration constraints, WoodWing Cloud remains a fully supported and reliable option.
