With Assets 10 for InDesign, files that are stored in Assets can be placed on a layout in InDesign.
When also storing the layout in Assets, the Placed files panel in Assets can be used to see which files are placed on a layout.
To see if a file in Assets is placed on a layout, or to see if a layout has placed files that are stored in Assets, the Placed files panel can be used. It is accessed by clicking its icon in the toolbar on the right.
The following is shown:
- When a layout is selected, all files that are placed on the layout which are also stored in Assets are shown.
- When a file is selected, the layouts on which it is placed are shown.

Using the panel
To use the panel, take note of the following:
- To see placed files, a single file must be selected.
- Placed files cannot be determined for file formats that do not support metadata embedding. See our supported file types for more detail.
- Assets only tracks placed files that are stored in Assets. This means that both the layout and the placed files need to be stored in Assets.
- A placed file can only be displayed when the file was stored in Assets at the time it was placed on the layout.
- A maximum of 20 files are displayed in the panel. To expand the results, use View all.
