Compatibility of Studio Server 10.14

This article describes the compatibility of Studio Server 10.14 with other systems.

Use the links for more detailed information about a specific product version and its compatibility with other systems.

Info: Versions that are not supported or have reached their end of life are not listed.

Operating systems

Notes:

  • The operating systems listed are valid for the Web server running Studio Server and the File Transfer Server. When the database and the Application Server run on different machines, Studio Server does not add extra restrictions to the operating system that runs the database. When both are running in the same box the choice of the operating system is limited.
  • For all operating system flavors, it is recommended to use the 64-bit version to gain better performance.
  • Verify that any software that is installed by default by the operating systems such as PHP, Web browsers, and so on is also compatible with Studio Server. Update these applications when needed.
  • The compatibility of non-WoodWing products with operating systems has not been verified; please check this separately.

Linux

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of Linux:

RedHat Linux 8

Recommended version.

Note that RHEL is free to use for development teams.

CentOS Stream Not supported.
CentOS 8

Not supported.

CentOS 8 has reached its end of life in December 2021.
RedHat Linux 7 / CentOS 7  

Windows

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of Windows:

Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Recommended version.
Windows Server 2016  

MS SQL Server drivers

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following drivers when connecting to MS SQL Server:

ODBC Driver 17 or higher for SQL Server
ODBC Driver 13.1 for SQL Server
SQL Driver 5.8 for PHP
(PHP 7.2 / 7.3 / 7.4)

macOS

Running Studio Server on macOS is not supported.

Assets Server / Elvis Server

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of Assets Server and Elvis Server:

Assets Server  
Elvis Server 6

Requires Elvis 6.40 or higher.

Requires Elvis Server 6.44 or higher when used in combination with archiving files from Studio Server to Elvis Server.

Databases

Note: When the database and the Application Server run on different machines, Studio Server does not add extra restrictions to the operating system that runs the database. When both are running in the same box the choice of the operating system is limited, as specified for the Application Server.

Microsoft SQL

Note: To connect to Microsoft SQL Server, the Application Server must run on a Windows Server as well. This is because the database driver for Microsoft SQL Server is not maintained for MacOS and Linux.

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of Microsoft SQL:

Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Recommended version.
Microsoft SQL Server 2017  
Microsoft SQL Server 2016  

MySQL

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of MySQL:

MySQL 8.0 Recommended version of MySQL.
MySQL 5.7  
Amazon Aurora for MySQL 5.7 This version has not been tested by us but is to our knowledge fully compatible.

ImageMagick

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of ImageMagick:

ImageMagick 7

ionCube Loaders

ionCube is used by Studio Server to encrypt some of its PHP modules.

Note: Do not install ionCube via the ionCube Web site. The correct version of ionCube to install is provided during the installation of Studio Server by an ionCube wizard.

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of ionCube Loader:

Studio Server 10.14 can be used with the following versions of PHP:

    Thanks for releasing this. I'm very excited about the new logging features.

    Some questions about the compatibility of products with this state of the art version of WoodWing Studio Server:

    1. Why are only out of the box known insecure versions of Solr (7.7 and 8.8) supported? There is only one known version of Solr (8.11.1) that is not known to be vulnerable to known log4j2 exploits.
    2. CentOS 8 is end of life, and even no longer receives security updates from the CentOS project. I think it would be ill-advised to support CentOS 8 anymore. That said, Linux support is getting pretty thin for Studio Server now, with only Red Hat Enterprise Linux being supported. Are there any plans to support more Linux distributions, like Amazon Linux 2, or its successor Amazon Linux 2022, which is still in preview.
