Support for storing InDesign Articles in Libraries
Smart Connection 9.4.0 adds support for storing InDesign Articles in a Library, a feature that is not available in the default version of InDesign.
This makes it possible to share InDesign Articles that are used as placeholders for placing articles in different frame arrangements.

Smart Connection 9.3.0 build 76

New features
The following new feature has been introduced in Smart Connection 9.3.0 build 76:
- Placing multiple Enterprise files. It is now possible to place multiple Enterprise files on a layout. Typical scenarios include:
- Loading multiple images into the place cursor (also known as the place gun) and placing them individually or as a group
- Automatically placing multiple files into an InDesign Article

Changes
The following changes have been implemented in Smart Connection 9.3.0 build 76:
- Handling of duplicate file names. The rules around the use of duplicate file names have been modified in order to bring more clarity around this concept.
In short, the following rules now apply:

When a Dossier, layout, Layout Module, InDesign Library or any type of template is assigned to an Issue, its name must be unique compared to an object of the same type that is already assigned to that Issue.
-
When a file of any type is added to a Dossier and a file of the same type is already present with that name, Enterprise automatically re-names the added file by adding a numeric postfix.
-
Enterprise allows manually removing the postfix of automatically renamed files.
- When a file is moved from a Task to the Dossier that the Task is in, the use of duplicate file names is allowed.

- WWSettings.xml option RecycleAll: change in behavior. When a file is opened with Smart Connection in InDesign or InCopy, it is saved to the local system so that it can be edited.
The action that takes place when the file is closed depends on the presence or absence of the option named 'RecycleAll' in the WWSettings.xml file. The behavior of the actions that take place when the option is not present has changed in Smart Connection 9.3.0.
To summarize the behavior:
For Smart Connection versions 9.0 – 9.2:
- With the option added:
- After closing a file of any type, it is moved to the Trash Can / Recycle Bin
- Without the option added:
- After closing a layout in InDesign, the file is completely removed from the system
- After closing an article in InCopy, the file is moved to the Trash Can / Recycle Bin
For Smart Connection 9.3:
- With the option added:
- After closing a file of any type, it is moved to the Trash Can / Recycle Bin
- Without the option added:
- After closing a file of any type, it is completely removed from the system

Notes
35763 Article (template) containing hyperlinks opens as 'edited'. This is default InCopy behavior if the "Auto Update URL Status" option of the Hyperlink panel is selected (which it is the default). This option automatically validates the link and updates it, resulting in a modified article.
Known issues
33824 When switching applications, visible or active panels hide behind other panels (Mac OS only).
34461 The font size in the Preview pane does not change when changing the Smart Connection preferences. The application needs to be restarted in order to see the changes. See Changing the Preview Pane Font Size option in the Smart Connection Preferences has no effect.

Smart Connection 9.2.0 build 46

New features
The following new features have been introduced in Smart Connection 9.2.0 build 46:
- InDesign: Opening an image for editing and replacing it for a file in a different format. When using the Edit Original feature of InDesign to open an image for editing, the file can be saved in a different file format and used for replacing the originally opened file.
This process takes place when checking-in the file at which time the user can choose which version of the file to use.
Example: A file in JPG format is opened in Photoshop and after editing the file it is saved in Photoshop format.

- InDesign: A warning is shown when an article is placed multiple times. When a user places an article (component) that is already placed somewhere else in the Issue, a warning appears.
Note: The functionality of placing articles multiple times was already implemented. However, the warning dialog has now been added.

Smart Connection panel
The keyboard shortcut to restore the Smart Connection panel has been changed. For more information, see Restoring the Smart Connection panel to its default state in Smart Connection 9.
New icons
In order to support the dark interface of InDesign CC and InCopy CC, as well as a need to support Smart Connection on Macintosh retina screens, new icons have been introduced. The changes not only include the availability of various resolutions, but also includes a redesign for many of the icons such as those for panels and file types.
In addition, new icons for the following file types have been introduced:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Open Office article
- Open Office spreadsheet
Known issues
