When logging in to Enterprise Server using InDesign or InCopy with Smart Connection for Adobe CC 2019 (version 14) or older installed, the following errors can occur:
Cannot connect to this server
A communication error occurred
This issue is caused by one of the following:
- An incorrect URL to Enterprise Server
- An incorrect security configuration for Smart Connection
To resolve this, do the following:
- Verify that the URL for Enterprise Server is correctly set in the WWSettings.xml file and if it requires 'http' or 'https'.
- When logging in to an Enterprise Server with 'https' in the URL, do the following:
Step 1. Add <SCEnt:SSL enable="true"/> to WWSettings.xml (or when it is already added, make sure it is set to 'true').
Step 2. Restart InDesign or InCopy. This adds a required certificate (cacert.pem file) to the SmartConnection.noindex folder.
