When creating, editing, or adding a layout, article, image, Dossier, or any other type of file or object in Smart Connection, be aware of the following restrictions:
- The name cannot be longer than 63 characters
- Some characters are not allowed
Name length restriction
The files that are worked on in Smart Connection are stored in Enterprise Server. In this system, an object cannot have a name that is longer than 63 characters.
When a name is entered that is longer than 63 characters, Smart Connection automatically removes all characters after position 63.
When a file is created or edited in Smart Connection, its name may not contain any of the following characters:
Note: This list is not complete; other less often used characters that are also invalid are not shown here.
|'||Single quote - straight|
|`||Single quote - back|
|‘||Single quote open - curly|
|’||Single quote close - curly|
|"||Double quote - straight|
|“||Double quote open - curly|
|”||Double quote close - curly|
|#||Pound / number / hash|
||||Pipe / bar|
When typing any of these characters in Studio, the character is automatically removed and/or a message appears to inform that invalid characters have been entered.
Integration with Elvis
Another way of adding files to Studio Server is by adding them from Elvis.
However, fewer characters are considered to be invalid in Elvis than in Enterprise Server. When a file is added from Elvis to Enterprise Server therefore, the name of the file in Elvis Server is adjusted by removing those characters that are invalid in Enterprise Server.
