    Hi César Miñano,

According to the PHP documentation, the JSON extension is bundled and compiled into PHP by default. There should be no need therefore to mention it separately.

Should you have any further questions on this, or if the described installation steps are not fully working for you, can you contact our Support for further assistance? Thank you.

    Hello Maarten van Kleinwee,

As the documentation states, JSON extension is bundled and compiled into PHP by default. But on CentOS/RHEL, you still need to run "yum install php-json" to make it available. Please check the comments from the PHP documentation.

    Regards, César

    Hi César Miñano,

The note about having to run "yum install php-json" was added as a comment by another user and is not part of the official PHP instructions. Can you confirm that you had to run this command as well to get it working on CentOS/RHEL? If so, I will discuss with our development team about potentionally updating our article.

    Hello Maarten van Kleinwee,

Yes, we had to run it. We also submitted a ticket since the Health Check doesn't prompt any error when having a PHP install without the JSON module. You might test it in a new install on RHEL 8.

    *The ticket number is: #121669

    Hi César,

We have looked into this some more and even though the PHP manual states that the JSON extension is bundled and compiled into PHP by default, this indeed seems to not always be the case for all CentOS/RHEL distributions, as you have noticed yourself.

The documentation has now been updated with a note and additional instructions to reflect this.

Thanks again for pointing this out to us.

    Best regards,
