In a typical production process, publications reach their end of life once they have been published. They are subsequently archived to make room in the system for other publications while still having access to the files for reference or re-use.
When Elvis is integrated with Enterprise, publications can be archived from Enterprise Server to Elvis Server.
The types of files that can be archived depends on the version of Enterprise Server that is used.
- Enterprise Server 10.9 or higher supports archiving the following files:
- InDesign layouts including placed files and output files.
- Digital articles including any images that they contain, plus all images, audio files, and video files that are present in the same Dossier as the article.

- Enterprise Server 10.8 supports archiving Digital articles including any images that they contain, plus all images, audio files, and video files that are present in the same Dossier as the article. Archiving other objects such as layouts is not supported.

- Enterprise Server 10.0 – 10.7 supports archiving publications (Issues, Dossiers, and layouts), including all related images, articles, and produced PDFs. Archiving Digital articles is not supported.
