Using the Pro client of Elvis, files can be automatically opened in their native application, edited in some way and saved back to Elvis.
Communication between the Pro client and the application in which the file is opened is handled by a separate application named Elvis Agent. It needs to be installed on the system on which the Pro client is used.
In this article, the process of removing the installer from the Install page is described. This can be required when users should not be able to download and install the application themselves.
On the Elvis Install page, users can download the installer for the Elvis InDesign client as well as Elvis Agent.
When Elvis Agent does not have to be offered to users as an option to install, it can be removed from the page by setting the following option:
- File: cluster-config.properties.txt
- Option name: install.show.agent
- Value: false or true
- Requires Elvis Server restart: no
Example: install.show.agent=false
Note: When also hiding the installer for the InDesign client, the option for accessing the page from which the installers can be downloaded is automatically removed from the Avatar menu.
