Using the Publication Overview Application in Content Station 10
The Publication Overview Application gives you a general overview of how far the production process of a publication has progressed by showing all layouts of a publication and their Workflow Status.
This way, you can quickly see which areas of the publication are (nearly) completed and which areas still need work.
It also shows areas that need attention such as multiple pages that have the same page number.

Using the Publication Overview Application on a tablet
Because Content Station and the Publication Overview Application is run as a dynamic Web page, it can be easily used on a tablet.
Accessing the Publication Overview
From the Apps menu in the toolbar, choose Publication Overview.
Figure: The Publication Overview Application is accessed through the Apps menu.
The Publication Overview Application offers the following views:
- The Publication Overview, showing all pages of the publication.
- The Full Layout View, showing a full page or spread at a time. Access this view by double-clicking a layout anywhere in the Publication Overview.

Using the Publication Overview page
When accessing the Publication Overview Application, the Publication Overview page is displayed. It shows all pages of the publication.
For each page, the following information is shown:
- The page number
- The color of the assigned Workflow Status
- Pages that have the same page number (requires Content Station 10.4 or higher)
On the page you can:
- Use the Filter on the left of the page to find the publication that you want to view
- Change the size of the thumbnails by using the zoom slider
- Switch between Issues by using the Filter
- Open a page in Full Layout view by double-clicking the page
- View the Workflow Status of placed objects (see Showing or hiding the Workflow Status of placed objects below)
- View pages that have the same page number (see Managing duplicate pages below)
Managing duplicate pages
Info: This feature requires Content Station 10.4 or higher.
When multiple pages exist that have the same page number, pages are at risk of being left out of a publication because for each page number only one page can be included.
When Content Station detects this scenario for a page, an icon is shown below the preview for the layout.
To see which pages all have that page number assigned, select the page and access the Duplicate Pages pane by clicking the icon in the toolbar on the right.
Figure: Viewing pages that have the same page number can be done by accessing the Duplicate Pages pane (A). All layouts for the selected page that have the same page number assigned are shown (B), while an icon below the page preview (C) indicates that a conflict exists. In this example, two layouts exist that both have page number 1 assigned.
Tip: To view a page in fullscreen view, double-click it in the Duplicate pages pane.
Note: To correct the page number conflict, open the layout(s) in InDesign and change the page numbering.
Using the Full Layout view
The Full Layout view allows you to view the content of the page in more detail. Access it by double-clicking a layout anywhere in the Publication Overview.
Many of the tools that are found on this page are self explanatory. Note that the zoom tools in the bottom right corner appear when moving the mouse and automatically disappear when keeping the mouse stationary.
Tip: Press Escape or the Spacebar to quickly close the Full Layout view.
Layouts can be viewed in spread view or single page view. Switching view modes is done through the menu in the top-right corner of the page.
It is also possible to view the Workflow Status of placed articles, images or spreadsheets (see below).
Info: This feature requires Content Station 10.2 or higher.
Any article, image, and spreadsheet that is placed on a layout (and stored in Enterprise) can be highlighted when viewing the layout on the Publication Overview page or when viewing it in fullscreen mode. The color used is the color of the Workflow status that is assigned to the object.
This gives a good overview of how far the layout and the publication as a whole is progressing.
Enabling or disabling this feature is done through the menu in the top-right corner of the page.

Reverse reading order
Info: This feature requires Content Station 10.19 or higher.
By default, pages are displayed from left-to-right, starting with page 1.
For those publications that require it, pages can be displayed in reverse order and from right-to-left.
This is controlled on Brand level by enabling the option "Reading Order Reversed" on the Brand Maintenance page in Enterprise Server.
Example: Here, pages 2 and 3 are a spread:
- 4 April 2017: Added section 'Reverse reading order'.
