Placing files from Elvis 5 on an InDesign layout
Files that are stored in Elvis can be easily placed on an InDesign layout simply by dragging them from Elvis. All selected files will be loaded to the InDesign place gun from which you can place them in the regular manner.
For this to work, make sure that the following is done:
- You have installed the Elvis InDesign client in InDesign. These are plug-ins that make it possible for Elvis to communicate with InDesign.
- When using the Pro client, you need the Elvis InDesign client 3.0 or higher installed in InDesign and you need to use the Pro client of Elvis 5.9 or higher.
- Make sure that you use the same user account for logging in to Elvis. You need to log in twice: to the Elvis application from which you are going to drag the file and to the Elvis InDesign client in InDesign (choose Elvis > Log in...). Make sure that you use the same credentials for both locations.

Moving files from the Production Zone folder
When a file is moved from Elvis to Enterprise, it can be stored in various ways in Elvis and Enterprise. In one of these methods, files are copied and stored in a folder in Elvis named the 'Production Zone' folder. This way, changes can be made to the copied file without changing the original file.
However, when dragging an asset from the Production Zone folder onto a layout, you might expect that again a copy is created. This depends though on how the system is configured.
When you use the Production Zone folder as a source of files to use in Enterprise, please read Working with assets that are stored in the Production Zone folder of Elvis 5.
