Notes:

To open a layout, do one of the following:

  • Double-click it
  • Right-click it and choose Open from the context menu
  • Select it in a panel and press Enter

Checked-out and checked-in layouts

When a layout is opened for editing, it is 'checked-out' of Enterprise, meaning that the layout is locked and other users are prevented from editing the layout until it is checked-in again.

Opening a layout as read-only

Use this method to view the content of the layout without checking-out the layout, thereby allowing other users to open it for editing.

To perform this action, do the following:

  • Right-click the layout in the Smart Connection panel or the Dossier panel and choose Open Read-Only.

Layouts that are opened as read-only can be distinguished from regularly opened layouts by the phrase [Read-Only] in the tab or title bar.
