Taking layouts or articles offline in Smart Connection

When working on a layout in InDesign or on an article in InCopy, the layout or article can be taken offline so that it can be edited without being logged in to Enterprise Server. This is done by choosing Smart Connection > Close for Offline Usage.

This feature can be controlled by the following option:

Info: The information presented here applies to the following versions of Smart Connection:

  • Smart Connection 9
  • Smart Connection for Adobe CC
  • Smart Connection for Adobe CC 2014
  • File: configserver.php file
  • Name of option: KeepCheckedOut
  • Example:

new Feature( 'KeepCheckedOut' ),

Notes:

  • When the feature is enabled, the "Close for Offline Usage" command is available in the Smart Connection menu.
  • When the feature is disabled, the "Close for Offline Usage" command is removed from the Smart Connection menu.

Offline documents are stored in the following locations:

Mac OS X

  • Users/<user name>/Documents/SmartConnection.noindex/InCopy
  • Users/<user name>/Documents/SmartConnection.noindex/InDesign

Windows

  • C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\SmartConnection.noindex\InCopy
  • C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\SmartConnection.noindex\InDesign
