Info: This feature is available for all versions of Smart Connection except Smart Connection 13.0.2 for Adobe CC 2018, or any other higher version of Smart Connection 13. For Smart Connection 13.0.2 or any other higher version, see Configuring how placed Enterprise files should be handled when opening a layout with Smart Connection for InDesign. |
Tip: How to check the version of Smart Connection that is installed.
When opening a layout from the Smart Connection panel in InDesign, the default behavior is that for all files that are placed on it, the latest version is retrieved from Enterprise.
In scenarios where a large number of files have been placed, this can sometimes result in long waiting times.
Enabling the following option makes sure that placed files are not updated when the layout is opened; instead, a message appears asking whether the links should be updated or not.
- File: WWSettings.xml file
- Name of option: SkipUpdateLinks
- Location: anywhere between the
<Settings> </Settings>
tags - Example:
<SCEnt:SkipUpdateLinks/>
Important: Make sure to validate the WWSettings.xml file for correct content. See Validating the WWSettings.xml file.

Hi, after choosing not to update in the message, once the file is opened, how can I update those links from that open InDesign file? Thank you.
Hi Nilthon,
This can be done by choosing Update All Content from the Smart Connection menu.

Hi Maarten.
I did that, but it does not work. Only Works If you have a InDesign file open and a change is made in an image, there if Update All content works to update the Links.
My Smart Connection version is 10.3.3
Best regards.
Hi Nilthon,
If it does not work as expected, can you contact our Support team so that they can investigate it?
Thank you.

Hi again Nilthon,
Just a thought: it should be possible to use the Links panel to see that updates are available and to update them from there.
Hope this helps.
