Automatically mapping XML tags in articles using Smart Connection

When an article is saved to Enterprise by using Smart Connection in InDesign or InCopy, XML tags can be automatically mapped to styles and Element Labels, thereby allowing easy conversion with XLST. The mapping is done by executing the commands 'Map Styles to Tags' and 'Map Element Labels to Tags'.

Note: An obvious downside is that the saving process in InCopy as well as the check-in process of articles in InDesign will become somewhat slower.

Info: The information presented here applies to the following versions of Smart Connection:

  • Smart Connection 9
  • Smart Connection for Adobe CC
  • Smart Connection for Adobe CC 2014
  • File: WWSettings.xml file
  • Name of option: MapStyleTagsToXML
  • Location: anywhere between the <Settings> </Settings> tags
  • Example:

<SCEnt:MapStyleTagsToXML/>

Important: Make sure to validate the WWSettings.xml file for correct content. See Validating the WWSettings.xml file.
