Publishing to Facebook with Content Station 9

Publishing to Facebook with Content Station 9

Info: This feature requires Enterprise Server version 9.1 or higher.

Creating a post on Facebook from Enterprise starts by creating a Dossier. This will hold the text and/or images that you are going to post and contains the tools for publishing them to Facebook.

This article describes how to use the tools in the Dossier for publishing the post to Facebook.

View the following video for a summary or read the rest of this article for a description of each step:

Step 1. Open the Dossier that represents your story, or create a new Dossier.

Step 2. In the Channel pane, choose the Facebook Publication Channel to which you want to publish the story.

Note: In case Facebook is not listed, add it first.

If this is the first time that the Facebook Publication Channel is selected in this Dossier, a "Select Template" window appears from which you first have to choose the Publish Form template on which to base your Publish Form. Choose from one of the following templates and click OK:

  • Facebook post: for posting a message, with or without a hyperlink
  • Facebook photo: for posting a single photo
  • Facebook photo album: for posting multiple images as an album

The Publish Form appears. It guides you through the process of adding all the information and content that is needed to publish the story to Facebook.

Step 3. Fill out the form from top to bottom with all the information and content that you have available. See a description of each type of post below.

Step 4. Do one of the following:

  • Click Publish to publish an unpublished post to Facebook
  • Click Unpublish to remove a post from Facebook

Note: Due to Facebook restrictions, it is not possible to preview or update a Facebook post.

Tip: Periodically save your work by clicking Save. This will store a version of the Publish Form and all its content (except metadata such as the title) to Enterprise.

Posting a Facebook message

Step 1. In the Message field, enter the text for your post by using an article component.

Note: Various ways of using article components exist: you can create a new component, use an existing one or make a copy of an existing one. For more details, see Using article components in a Publish Form in Content Station 9.

Step 2. (Optional) To include a hyperlink, enter the URL in the Hyperlink field.
